OKLA Formula K

The Formula K Circuit is designed and constructed to meet the exact specifications required by the CIK/FIA governing body to enable classification as a “Grade A” short circuit. This makes it the only circuit in South Africa currently eligible to host a karting world championship event.

The circuit has both fast and technical sections, a great variety of corner types, elevation changes and several turns that are noticeably banked. It can also be quickly modified to suit different needs and preferences. In its standard karting configuration, the circuit is 1.51 kilometers in length, but it can grow to 2.1 kilometer’s by adding two back straights and chicanes or shrink to less than a kilometer by subtracting sections. This makes it ideal for the baby karts as well as rental karting.

The Formula K Circuit is the culmination of a vision that started in 2008 by brothers Phillip and Marius Swanepoel, who have been involved in the karting world since 1990. They secured land in 2009 but faced an eight-year-long battle to establish the property as a fully serviced township and meet the requirements of local and national authorities. Construction could only begin after overcoming these challenges.

The circuit was finally opened to the public in November 2019, with an open day hosted by the API Property Group, where media and VIPs were treated to the first viewing of the completed track. The circuit has since hosted various competitions and events, such as the Rotax World Finals, National Championships, Regional Events and Club Events.
