Pole Position Karts operates a rental go-kart track located within the grounds of Zimbabwe’s National Sports Stadium in Harare. Opened in late 2022, this purpose-built facility features an 800-meter track with 10 different rental layout configurations, modern 200cc karts, and state-of-the-art electronic timing systems. The venue was established as part of a grassroots initiative to bring karting to a wider African audience and hosts competitive events including the ROK Cup Zimbabwe Championship. Despite its modest scale as a parking lot facility, the track has garnered international recognition, reaching the finals of the International Rental Karting Awards 2023 in both the “Most Inspiring Kart Track of the Year” and “Implementer of the Year” categories—the only African venue to achieve this distinction.
AAO Comments:
We had a bit of difficulty finding reliable data to build this track off of, however we managed to deliver the quality of circuit that has come to be expected of our team. The model for this track itself is as simple as they come, essentially being built in a parking lot, yet we were incredibly impressed by the quality of the track layout achieved with such limited resources and tight constraints. This track punches well above its weight.
Being in such close proximity to the sports stadium required added attention to include enough detail to such a large structure without weighing down the performance of the game engine. The result captures both the intimate circuit and the iconic backdrop that makes this Zimbabwean venue so unique.
